Toronto based Mexican restaurant La Carnita is all kinds of cool, starting from the urban designs, chic interiors, old school hip-hop music and delicious food. La Carnita takes places in Intercontinental Dubai Marina and is open all week.
Once you walk in there’s street art all around you, and many seating areas suitable for groups or couples. There’s also a comfy seating area near the window overlooking the marina.
La Carnita serves street Mexican food with a latino twist. Their menu includes options of starters, salads, main courses, tacos and desserts. They also have a section for vegetarian tacos which is certainly a plus.
We ordered “Pollo Fritto Tacos”: fried chicken thigh, peanut lime, hot sauce, salsa, and green cabbage, and “Crispy Oaxaca”: Oaxaca cheese, pinto bean, pickled carrots, chipotle sauce, green onion and cilantro. Both tacos were very tasty, and what I loved is that the portion is perfect for one person. Lets you have a room for starters and desserts!
We then ordered tortilla chips to munch on while enjoying the music, we went for their special three dips: corn salsa, guacamole and spicy beans. My favorite was the corn salsa it was light and delicious.
Ending it on a sweet note we got the churros, and oh my it was the definition of comfort food. I don’t remember the last time I’ve had churros that tasted this good. And the Dulce de Leche dip (caramelised condensed milk) was too tasty, we finished it off with a spoon after devouring the churros. This was my favorite part of the meal!
Prices wise, it’s actually very good, unless you’re having a main dish, nothing exceeds 40 Dhs.
I definitely loved the place! The staff were so welcoming and the ambience is filled with great vibes. Definitely recommend it for a casual hangouts or for catch up sessions with your besties while munching on delish Mexican food and enjoying some good tunes!
Fact: La Carnita originally started as a pop-up place where artwork was sold and tacos were given for free.
